Read and Write Spirit

During the past twelve weeks I’d seen and marveled at how technology rules not only in social media and publishing but in encouraging young adults to write and read. It’s nice to see tweens and teens using technology not only to socialize but to read and find their ‘writing spirit’ as well. For the most part YA literature is written by adults with a fascination for ghosts, vampires, fairies, high school crushes and anything to do with the tribulations we go through our teenage years. Now in days we see more talented young writers express their feelings by putting it in a novel. Fresh from the tribulations of teenage-hood. It’s refreshing to see this trend and I hope this continues to grow because it gives us “adult writers” a window to the past and inspiration for the future.

One of these young writers’ is Saga Berg; she is the author of Nordic Fairies. From the moment I read the blurb I became intrigued with the story of Svala and Viggo. The author was kind enough to send me a copy of her Novella and I’ll be posting a review here. Thank you for stopping by!

Review Update:

REVIEW: Nordic Fairies **** Four Stars - Wonderful Read!!

From the blurb I became intrigued with this story and would like to thank the author for being so kind in sending me this e-book. Viggo and Svala are fairies pretending to be normal human beings. It seems they used to be one hundred percent human before becoming fairies due to some kind of deal. It appears they get separated every now and then after they complete their assignments which are not specific in the novella. Viggo turns out to be a movie star in their next encounter and apparently everyone is wondering why he is back as an actor. The fairies are divided in two distinctive groups, the light fairies and the dark ones. It’s up to Svala to find out if Viggo has decided to switch to the dark side.
Even though some aspects at the beginning of the story are not clear (what kind of deal turned them into fairies, what’s their assignment) I feel the story has potential and I enjoyed it overall.  I hope the author answers these questions and more in her next installment because I really want to know!
